PURPOSE:To obtain a porous polymer film which contributes to the mass production of an electrolyte film of a large-aread electrochromic device and allows quick impregnation of an electrolyte soln. by impregnating a solid polymer into a porous polymer film under a specified condition and then curing the polymer. CONSTITUTION:A solid polymer (e.g. an epoxy acrylate) is impregnated into a porous polymer film 5 having a thickness of 1-100mum, a void content of 30-90%, and a mean size of through-holes of 0.001-0.7mum (e.g. a porous PE film) in such a manner that 1-10 spots impregnated with the solid polymer, having a mean diameter of 0.05-2mm, and scattered on 10cm<2> are formed on the polymer film. The solid polymer is then cured. The upper figure shows a panel which is used for producing a solid electrolyte film by sandwiching a porous polymer film between two glass plates 1 and 2, sealing the circumference except a small hole 4 with an epoxy resin 3, placing the resulting panel in a vacuum to remove air from the porous film, dipping the hole 4 in an electrolyte soln. to impregnate the soln. into the panel to fill it, and fixing it.
