摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the use frequency of a communication line for confirming the use condition of a call terminating state by transferring a message received from a call originating terminal by a substitutive response to a call terminating terminal based on the output of a communication detecting means to detect the communication state or communication standby state of the call terminating terminal. CONSTITUTION:An automatic mail communication equipment 101 is composed of a terminal monitoring means M1, substitutive response storage means M2, message transfer means M3 and communication detecting means M4. The communication detecting means M4 detects the communication state or communication standby state of a call terminating telephone set 2 by detecting identification information contained in a communication signal transferred from the call terminating telephone set 2. Since the message received from a call originating terminal 1 by the substitutive response is transferred to the call terminating telephone set 2 based on the output of the communication detecting means M4, when the call terminating telephone set 2 is in an idle state, the message can be surely transferred, and the ineffective use of the communication line for confirming the idle state of the call terminating telephone set 2 can be avoided.
