LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which is improved in contrast ratio and does not generate an increase in wiring capacitance and degradation in spot defect yield. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device has plural signal electrodes 18 which are formed on substrate 10 and extend in parallel with each other, plural pixel electrodes 20 which are disposed apart with prescribed intervals on the substrates along these signal electrodes 18 and plural nonlinear resistance elements 22 which have laminated lower metals, insulators and upper metals and connect respective display electrodes and the signal electrodes 18. Plural light shielding bodies 24 which are electrically isolated from the signal electrodes 18 and the pixel electrodes 20 are formed between the adjacent pixel electrodes. These light shielding bodies 24 are formed by patterning metallic layers and insulator layers constituting the signal electrodes 18 and the lower metals and insulators of the nonlinear resistance elements 22.
