PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device, in which contrast is satisfactory and the brightness of display is sufficient as well, by letting one polarizing board be a high polarizing degree polarizing board and letting the other polarizing board be a low polarizing degree polarizing board. CONSTITUTION:One polarizing board 21 of a pair of polarizing boards 21 and 22 is a high polarizing degree polarizing board of which light transmissivity is 40-42%, and the other polarizing board 22 is a low polarizing degree polarizing board of which light transmissivity is 44-46%. Since one polarizing board 21 is a high polarizing degree polarizing board, satisfactory contrast can be obtained and since the other polarizing board 22 is a low polarizing degree polarizing board, the light transmissivity of this polarizing board 22 is increased so as to improve the brightness of display. Further, both of the brightness and contrast of display can be improved by setting a product DELTAn.d of refraction factor anisotropic control DELTAn of a liquid crystal cell 10 and a cell gap (d) within the range from 350 to 500nm. |
