The invention relates to a servo-controlled cylinder (17) for a clutch of a vehicle engine including a cylindrical body (30), a primary piston (41) forming a first fluid chamber (60) inside the said body, and a secondary piston (70) which can move to and fro and in a sealed manner on the first piston (41) and interacting with the primary piston in order to form a second fluid chamber (80), the second fluid chamber (80) being connected to the first fluid chamber (60) by means forming a valve (82) which means open when the primary piston (41) is completely retracted, and close again when the primary piston is in a position of rest in order to control the volume of fluid in the second fluid chamber in response to the wear on the clutch. The secondary piston (70) includes indicator means (74) which interact with reference means (78) which are stationary relative to the primary piston (41) in order to indicate a condition of wear of the clutch. <IMAGE>
