PURPOSE: To allow the user itself to control a power saving function by allowing the user to set a battery power saving mode before a battery power saving state is automatically started in the communication equipment. CONSTITUTION: The mobile radio communication equipment (telephone set) 1 is switched automatically a battery power saving state when the communication equipment 1 is resident at the outside of a network service area, part of the communication equipment 1 is interrupted. Manual operation means 2, 5 are provided to the equipment 1 so as to allow select and start the power saving mode of a battery 6. Only when the battery power saving mode is started, the communication equipment 1 is automatically switched in the battery power saving state. Then at least an operating voltage of a transmitter 9 is switched off in the battery power saving state. Moreover, the user switches the battery power saving state of the telephone set 1 into the active state to make the telephone set 1 ready immediately as required at any time and the user itself controls the battery power saving function.
