PURPOSE:To provide the magnetic medium which can display only a character magnetic latent image without making encode magnetic information visible when a facility user generates any doubt in utilizing a facility utilizing card. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic medium is provided with a first magnetic recording layer 3 composed of a high coercive force magnetic material so as to record the encode information and a second magnetic recording layer 5 having smaller coercive force than the coercive force of the first magnetic recording layer 3 and recording character information for display, which can be made visible by a magnetic latent image/visible image converting means 40, as the latent image, a magnetic shielding layer 4 composed of a soft magnetic material is provided on the first magnetic recording layer 3 for confining the line of magnetic force of the encode information recorded on the first magnetic recording layer 3 so as not to leak it outside, and the encode information recorded in the first magnetic recording layer 3 is prevented from being made visible by the magnetic latent image/visible image converting means 40. |
