New pharmaceutical compositions based on bismuth and process for their preparation

The invention relates to new pharmaceutical compositions containing, as active principle, a bismuth derivative. The subject of the invention is specifically pharmaceutical compositions with an improved adhesiveness or an improved resorption which contain a basic bismuth salt and a gelling agent chosen from gums of plant or microbial origin and polymers of acrylic acid or of acrylamide. The pharmaceutical compositions thus produced are suitable for the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers.
