The device according to the invention brings into play a phase shifter controlled by a dual-action hydraulic actuator which includes a phase-shifting chamber (16) connected to the output of the distributor (21) via a circuit comprising a non-return valve (20) and a hydraulic accumulator (31), the charging pressure of which can be limited by virtue of a limiter (D) and a chamber (18) for shifting the phase back, the pressure of which is controlled by a pressure regulator (26) so that a defined phase shift corresponds to each control value of the regulator (26). The invention applies especially to the ramming of objects such as piles or sheet piles into the ground.
