The transmission installation with remotely monitored link coupling a central station for transmitting/receiving useful signals to subscriber terminations includes a remote monitoring unit with reflectometer locked onto a metering length which differs from the wavelength(s) of transmission of the useful signals over the single-mode optical fibres of the link. It is characterised in that the said reflectometer (20) is locked onto the chosen metering length of 1 480 nm and leaves available either one or the other or more advantageously both wavelengths of 1 310 and 1 550 nm, for the transmission of the said useful signals by first and/or second means (4, 6; 5, 7) of transmission/reception of the said central station (2), which are coupled together with the reflectometer to the said link (1). <IMAGE> |
