PICTURE DATA COMPRESSION RECORDING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture data compression recording device in which recording and reproduction of picture information are attained at a compression rate in response to a characteristic of a picture desired to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:An output signal of a picture analysis section 51 analyzing a characteristic of an endoscope picture from picture information is inputted to a compression rate changeover circuit 52 in which a compression rate in a compression circuit section 34 is decided. The compression rate is fed to a compression circuit section 34 and a recording system section 35 records a compression rate identification signal being information of the picture compression rate together with compressed picture information. At the time of reproduction, a recording system section 35 reproduces the compression rate identification signal together with the compressed picture information and a compression rate discrimination circuit 53 discriminates the compression rate of the picture based on the compression rate identification signal and an expansion circuit section 36 expands the picture corresponding to the compression rate.
