The invention relates to a method for compensating errors which occur in measuring the flatness of rolling stock in cold-strip mills caused by the introduction of tensile stress into the rolling stock on one side due, in particular, to varying skew positions of a strip reel. The intention is to find a practical solution by means of which compensation of the measurement errors resulting from a dynamic skew position of the strip reel can be performed more simply and more accurately than hitherto.
