PURPOSE:To directly detect the movement in the vicinity of an optical fiber on the movable side, to detect abnormality in the course of a transferring process, to perform noncontacting detection without a changed with the lapse of time, to detect the slight displacement of the optical fiber and to stop the laser transfer by detecting the arising of abnormality or the probable occurrence of abnormality. CONSTITUTION:A position detector 30 for performing the noncontacting detection of the changeover position of an optical fiber 4 on the movable side is arranged in the vicinity of a movable block B. The position detector 30 is composed of an optical detector fixed on the side of a chamber D and optically detecting the transmission or interruption and reflection of light and a target plate provided with a slit fixed on the side of the movable block B and transmitting or interrupting and reflecting the light from the optical detector.
