The invention proceeds from a pump device which is used for fuel injection, especially for diesel fuel injection in motor vehicles, and which comprises an injection pump having a pump housing with a pump bore, in which a pump piston is capable of reciprocating, and two pressure medium ducts emerging from the pump bore, of which a first duct can be connected to an injection nozzle, and a check valve fitted to the injection pump, which is equipped with a solenoid and with a seat valve body adjustable in one direction by magnetic force and in the other direction by spring force, and by means of which the second pressure medium duct can be opened and closed. The intention is that such a pump device be cheap to manufacture and of compact dimensions. To this end, it is proposed, according to a first solution, that the check valve have a valve piston, which on the remote side of a ring surface has a guide section for the seat valve body of sleeve-shaped design mounted on to the ring surface and on the near side of the ring surface a fixing section with an axial pressure medium bore led radially outwards on the remote side of the ring surface, and that the valve piston be inserted into a bore of the pump housing and located by the fixing section.
