Method for the continuous direct coating of chipboard and apparatus for preparing the surface of the chipboard

The invention relates to an apparatus which is particularly suitable for preparing the surface of a continuously produced chipboard for direct coating with decorative foils or papers, and a method which uses this apparatus for continuous in-line direct coating. The apparatus substantially consists of a thin support on which diamond powder is galvanically bound, and which is pressed by compressed air against the chipboard. At the same time, the support is oscillatingly moved transversely to the direction of advance of the chipboards. The result is a minimal removal of material. The method comprises arranging the apparatus described above directly behind the outlet of the twin-belt press producing the chipboard, so that the surface of the boards is ground while they are still hot. This is immediately followed by an unreeling station for the decorative foils or papers and a twin-belt press for pressing together the chipboard and decoration.
