The invention relates to a dirt chamber (23) which is arranged within an open-end spinning unit (1). The dirt chamber (23) arranged underneath the opening-roller housing (10) has an approximately central suction orifice (35) connected to the atmospheric pressure and laterally, in each case, an air-inlet orifice (36) likewise connected to the atmosphere and a dirt suck-off orifice (22) loaded with suction air. The transport-air flow (38) established between the suction orifice (35) and the dirt suck-off orifice (22) ensures a satisfactory disposal of the dirt particles (39) combed out by the opening roller (7). The suction-air flow (40) established between the air-inlet orifice (36) and the spiked rotating surface of the opening roller (7) forms, on the one hand, a pneumatic guide in the region of the dirt outlet orifice (32) of the opening-roller housing (10) and, moreover, guarantees that the pressure conditions necessary during the spinning process are maintained. <IMAGE>
