PURPOSE: To provide an insert for light feed and light depth of cut in order to cut a ductile material such as steel. CONSTITUTION: A polygonal cut insert 10 includes an upper surface 12, a bottom surface 14, and a side wall which is extended between the upper and bottom surfaces substantially without any breakage, and the upper and bottom surfaces are generally flat and substantially parallel to each other. A first variable width land surface 38 has a first variable angle drop surface to form a positive rake angle, and the first variable angle drop surface is set to be larger at a part corresponding to a corner part 28 than a part 26 along a side flank. |
