PURPOSE:To provide a process for the production of a hydrogen-containing gas in high efficiency at a low cost while keeping high methanol conversion and suppressing the production of CO and suitable for the production of a fuel for solid polymer fuel cell, phosphate-type fuel cell, etc. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen-containing gas is produced by mixing methanol with oxygen and water to obtain a mixture containing 0.01-0.5mol of oxygen based on 1mol of methanol, introducing the mixture into a catalyst layer heated at >=100 deg.C to effect the reaction of the components and adjusting the outlet temperature of the catalyst layer to <=200 deg.C when the above reaction teaches a stationary state. |
