PURPOSE:To provide a method for processing propolis, carried out by treating propolis with a supercritical gas or a liquefied fluid so as to remove organic components composed mainly of waxes and capable of improving the grindability, of controlling strong smell components in extraction and of preventing generation of dregs. CONSTITUTION:A raw material propolis (kind of bee resin), i.e., a glue-like substance accumulated in a honeycomb is cut into pieces of 5mm square by a cutter, filled into an autoclave and treated by using a supercritical fluid treatment apparatus and a supercritical gas composed of carbon dioxide under conditions of 5ml/min flow rate, 40 deg.C and 250atm for 6hr. A liquefied fluid may be used for the treatment. Thereby, organic components composed mainly of fragrant components, flavonoid compounds and waxes contained in the propolis are extracted and concentrated and grindability of the propolis is improved. In addition, strong smell components can be controlled in extraction of propolis and generation of dregs can be prevented. According to the above-mentioned method, the objective propolis widely useful for a health food, propolis tincture, a candy or another food, etc., can be produced. |
