PURPOSE: To obtain a cellulose ester blend membrane showing a very superior selectivity and an improved flow rate compared with membranes made of one cellulose ester alone. CONSTITUTION: The membrane is composed of a first polymer selected from cellulose ester and a second polymer selected from polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP), copolymers of vinyl pyrrolidone and vinyl acetate(VP-co-VA), polyethylene glycol(PEG), N,N-dialkylated polyacrylic amid(DPAA) and cellulose esters other than the first polymer. The membrane is used for removing 1-3C alkanols from their mixtures with hydrocarbons or heteroatom-contg. hydrocarbons by the pervaporation method. |
