PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITION CONTAINING INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR-1

PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing a composition containing insulin- like growth factor-1 from cow milk or a material originated from cow milk. CONSTITUTION:Cow milk or a material originated from cow milk is heated under the condition of the formula T>=-5(pH)+100 (T is temperature; 2<=pH<=7), the produced precipitate is removed and the liquid is concentrated with a membrane having a fractionating molecular weight of >=10kDa to obtain a composition containing insulin-like growth factor-1. Since the composition containing the insulin-like growth factor-1 has a bone fortifying effect, it is useful for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
