The constitution of the general-purpose display apparatus according to the present invention comprises a light source, a light diffusing plate for diffusing light from the light source, a motor arranged through said light diffusing plate, a first smoke polarizing plate arranged in front of said light diffusing plate rotatably through the rotating shaft of said motor, a transparent plate situated in front of said first smoke polarizing plate and capable of forming interference fringes of light, a second smoke polarizing plate placed in front of said transparent plate, and a light screen plate with a see-through part placed in front of said second smoke polarizing plate. Thus, due to this constitution, a general-purpose display apparatus that can give visual deep impressions is provided.
