摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To optimize the surface treatment of a toner for electrophotography with a surface treating agent by adjusting the coverage ratio and the amount to be added of the surface-treating agent to the surfaces of the toner particles to meet a specified relation. CONSTITUTION:The surface-treating agent is appropriately buried in the surface layers of the toner particles when the coverage ratio of the surface-treating agent to the surfaces of the toner particles (R%) and the amount of the surface-treating agent added to the surfaces of the toner particles (X wt.%) meet the relation expressed by the following relational expression: 0.1<=X<=1.0 and 80X+37<=9R<=130X+32. Under such conditions, the release of the surface-treating agent is prevented from occurring, concurrently without damaging effects, such as improvement in the fluidity and chargeability of the toner and in the image quality and prevention of filming of the toner, at the time of performing the surface treatment. In the figure, the curve B indicates the relation between the coverage ratio and the added amount of the surface-treating agent and the range A indicates the range specified by the above expressions. The surface-treating agent is appropriately buried in the toner that is within the range A without damaging the chargeability and fluidity of the toner and the release of the surface-treating agent is also prevented from occurring.</p>
