PURPOSE: To minimize destruction effect by providing prior notice which notifies that a destructive operation will take place and carrying out the destructive operation after the prior notice is given. CONSTITUTION: A service call logical processor 22 decides that a central processor 18 stop is requested to properly execute a designated operation based on a SCLP command word at a CP stop request step, or is notified this information by a console operator or internal hardware function. The logical processor 22 sends an operation system 14 a signal which shows that the central processor 18 is going to be stopped after this decision or acquiring the information. Particularly, a service signal external interruption which is not requested is sent from the logical processor 22 to the operating system 14 and the operating system 14 outputs a stop command through another service signal internal interruption 21.
