PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device capable of easy color display which is capable of color display with a simple constitution and is produced by the same production line as a TN type or STN type liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrode films and oriented films are provided on faces of two transparent substrates 4 and 5 facing each other, and a liquid crystal layer 1 is interposed between two transparent substrates 4 and 5, and polarizing plates 2 and 3 are arranged on the outside of two transparent substrates 4 and 5, and a phase difference plate 6 is interposed between the front transparent substrate 4 and the front polarizing plate 2 on the display face side, and the phase difference plate 6 is so arranged that the optical axis direction of an arrow D of this plate 6 is counterclockwise turned to the light transmission axis direction of an arrow E of the front polarizing plate 2 by 45+ or -5 deg. or smaller. |
