The subject of the present invention is a system for inspection of the maintenance of automobiles. The system consists of a memory card of known type, in the format of a credit card, including specific areas of electrically rewritable memory, in which are recorded the vehicle identification elements as well as the servicing parameters and dates and results of technical inspections, and of fixed or portable card-readers allowing the recording and/or displaying of this information, and which are associated with computerised tools intended for their storage and analysis. It is intended to enable drivers, garage mechanics, insurers and the police to check the proper operation of the vehicle and the date of the inspection of used vehicles.
