PURPOSE:To improve a converting efficiency when the number of Chinese character candidates is large by morpheme-analyzing an already converted character string and dividing it into words, collating the meaning information of the words with the meaning information of a Chinese character dictionary, and displaying the Chinese characters by preferentially taking the candidate display order of the Chinese character having the pertinent meaning information. CONSTITUTION:At the time of inputting a Japanese syllabary character string, and operating Japanese syllabary/Chinese character conversion, a Japanese syllabary/Chinese character converting means 2 operates a single Chinese character conversion, and retrieves a Chinese character dictionary B when the Chinese character to be searched can not be extracted after operating a multiple clause conversion by using a word dictionary A. At the same time, an inputting means l inputs the character string already converted into the Chinese character/ Japanese syllabary mixing character string, and a morphemic analyzing means 3 analyzes the pertinent character string by using the word dictionary A, and extracts the word having the meaning information.
