<p>PURPOSE:To provide the driving method which drives an active matrix type liquid crystal display panel having the nonlinear resistance element, which has an asymmetrical nonlinear characteristic by the polarity of an applied voltage, as a switching element without bringing about flicker or a seizure phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:The amplitude of a data is changed to, for example, a2 for positive fields and b2 for negative fields in accordance with the nonlinear characteristic of the nonlinear resistance element to equalize the transmittance modulation range between positive fields and negative fields, and three levels are prepared as necessary data signal levels, thus driving the liquid crystal display panel. In the case of gradation display based on pulse width modulation, the pulse width is adjusted in positive fields and negative fields in accordance with the nonlinear characteristic to equalize relations between the gradient and the transmittance between the positive side and the negative side.</p> |
