<p>PURPOSE:To provide a detector for detecting a metal mixed in glass fibers even when the glass fibers contain a large quantity of water. CONSTITUTION:The detector for detecting metal present in a thread-like body comprises a gun diode 3 having oscillation frequency of 9.95 GHz, a microwave receiving element 4, a square microwave resonator 1 provided with a path 2 for passing thread-like matter, a power supply for the gun diode 3, and a signal processing section connected with a Schottky barrier diode 4. The diode 3 is disposed at a position separated by 18.5mm from one inner wall 5 toward the other inner wall 6 of the diode 3 in the longer axis direction of the resonator 1 whereas the diode 4 is disposed at a position separated by 6.5mm. Central position of the path 2 for passing thread-like matter is matched with a position separated by (20.2+20.1.m) mm(m=0 or an integer) from the Schottky barrier diode 4 and the distance between one and the other walls is set at (54.7+20.1.n) mm (n=0 or an integer, n>=m).</p> |
