PURPOSE:To extract a relevant template from a dictionary without any ID number and to collate it by providing a fingerprint sensor, dictionary ID prepara tion and template dictionary. CONSTITUTION:Dictionary ID preparation 14 prepares a dictionary ID by encoding a fingerprint read by a fingerprint sensor 1 based on the number of respective feature points or the kind (either an end point or a branch point) in plural divided areas. Corresponding to this dictionary ID, the fingerprint (template) is registered on a template dictionary 9. At the time of collation, the dictionary ID preparation 14 prepares the dictionary ID by encoding the fingerprint read by the fingerprint sensor 1 based on the number or kind of respective feature points in the plural divided areas. Based on this dictionary ID, the relevant template is extracted from the template dictionary 9, and only this extracted template is collated. Thus, fingerprint collation is enabled without inputting any dictionary ID. |
