The invention relates to a non-combustible, non-flammable, colourable device, which is largely resistant chemically, can be flexible if desired, can be adapted to functional surfaces, can be produced economically and is intended to absorb acoustic and/or hydrodynamic waves and is preferably to be used in a temporary or permanent fashion in the environmental sector. It is used for the purpose of screening (shielding) construction (building) sites, firing ranges, residential and recreational areas, streets, film recordings (filming) and sound recordings and other noise sources, and as a modular, transportable noise-absorbing (noise-deadening, noise-muffling) device for use in film studios. The absorber can be adapted to any contours because of its flexibility. The solution according to the invention is described and represented with the aid of a plurality of exemplary embodiments. The device according to the invention, denoted as a reticulated absorber in the description, is produced by using a fibre material, (for example, glass fibre, mineral fibre, etc.) to fill a wide-mesh matrix or envelope (jacket), denoted as a stocking in the description, which has the shape of a cuboid, cone, wedge or pyramid and is produced by knitting or in some other way from a weather-resistant (weather-proof) material. <IMAGE>
