PURPOSE:To provide an outside manifold type molten carbonate fuel cell having improved cell characteristics by restraining movement of an electrolyte from the end of a plus side of a cell stack to the end of a minus side thereof. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte from the ends of electrolytic plates 10 is impregnated so that a gas sealing sheet 6 forming a wet seal portion is interposed between a reaction gas supply/exhaust surface of a cell stack 5 and a manifold 9 for supplying/exhausting reaction gas. In an outside manifold type molten carbonate fuel cell having the above constitution, a voltage for canceling a generated voltage of the cell stack 5 is applied between the ends of the sheet 6 at both ends in the cell lamination direction. |
