PURPOSE:To provide high voltage and a large discharge capacity by using a lithium transition metal composite oxide having a specific composition for the positive electrode active material of a nonaqueous secondary battery using metal lithium for a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A material capable of storing and emitting lithium ions or metal lithium is used for a negative electrode 2 in a nonaqueous secondary battery, and a composite oxide expressed by the composition formula LixFeOy and expressed by the composition formula LipFeOq at the time of charge/ discharge is used for the active material of a positive electrode 1, where x 1.8y<=2.2, 0<p<x, 1.8<=q<=2.2. LiFeO2 having the '-type, beta-type, or gamma-type crystal structure is used as the composite oxide. The potential of the positive electrode 1 against lithium is made within the range of 4-2.5V according to charge/discharge, and the discharge capacity can be increased. |
