<p>PURPOSE:To provide such a nonvolatile recording device that can be increased in density and capacity, can perform writing and readout at high speeds, and can simplify its manufacturing process and, at the same time, the peripheral device of which can be reduced in size and cost and simplified in constitution. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 75, a plurality of lower electrodes 72 are arranged in the row direction and upper electrodes 71 are arranged on the electrodes 72 a plurality of the column direction. A heating body 64 is provided between the electrodes 61 and 62 and the intersections of the electrodes 62 and 62 constitute memory cells 63. The substrate 75 is stuck to a glass substrate 72 on which a counter electrode 71 is formed with a PDLC layer 73 in between. Since the recording medium used for this recording device is composed of the PDLC, a low-molecule liquid crystal having a high anisotropy of dielectric constant can be used. In addition, the injection of a liquid crystal into the interface between the substrates 73 and 75 can be performed by using a material having a low molecular weight and no orientation processing is required for the substrates.</p> |
