VIDEO SIGNAL RECORDING METHOD

PURPOSE:To provide the recording method for a video signal in which propagation of error is suppressed with less added information quantity with respect to a recording and reproducing device for video signal comprising consecutive SYNC blocks of a predetermined length. CONSTITUTION:A SYNC block consists of a synchronization pattern, identification information, position information, a data area and a parity. A segment comprising coded data in a predetermined unit is recorded to the data area as a recording control unit. In this case, when a segment S1-1 having been not written in a preceding SYNC block is in existence in a SYNC block, it is recorded in the data area and then address information and coded data of a segment S1 written newly are recorded after that. The address information set over one set is not written in a SYNC block and a byte location X of the written address information in the SYNC block is expressed by position information.
