PURPOSE:To preclude a possibility of a connecting wire short-circuiting or breaking and to downsize an apparatus in an optical module composed of an optical fiber, a photodetector optically coupled to the optical fiber and a semiconductor chip for amplifying the output of the light-receiving element. CONSTITUTION:In an optical module for at least mounting, on the top face of a substrate 1, a semiconductor chip 3 for amplifying a photodetector 2 and the output of the photodetector 2; for sealing the substrate 1 through a cap 20 and for converging and projecting the outgoing light of the optical fiber 10 mounted above the cap 20 on the photodetector 2 via an optical system 50, the semiconductor chip 3 and the photodetector 2 are arranged and mounted in the almost central part and peripheral part of the substrate 1, respectively. |
