Method and arrangement for plastic covering of a hay or straw bale, such as a silage bale. The silage bale to be covered with plastic is wrapped by a wrapping element 3 rotating around the bale, which element has at least one roll of plastic 1. The first stage of plastic covering is performed by holding the plastic roll 1 in its starting position and the second stage is performed by swivelling the plastic roll through 90 degrees from its starting position and rotating the bale that is to be covered in plastic in a horizontal plane. <IMAGE>
