PURPOSE:To attain a high density over-write by recording and reproducing a mark whose width(disk radial direction) is wider than whose length(disk rotational direction) without being affected by a thermal influence by using an optical intensity modulation recording. CONSTITUTION:An over-right validating medium is used, plural recording states 110 and 103 which can be optically identified are overlapped by shifting distances (x)1, (x)2, and (x)3 smaller than an area occupied by the recording states, the overlapped area is successively updated by an over-right function, and the area which is not overlapped is established as an information area. Thus, the mark whose width is wider than whose length can be recorded and reproduced without being affected by the thermal influence by using the optical intensity modulation, so that the linear recording density can be improved while a sufficiently large S/N can be ensured. Also, the over-right and a high speed can be attained. |
