In the case of a letter box having a letter-box housing and a hinged letter-box door which closes a housing opening and is laterally linked to the edge of the housing opening via at least one substantially vertical hinge, the housing being formed inter alia by four side walls 1, and at least two of the side walls 1 having bent-over tongues 6 reaching into the housing opening and overlapping in the corner regions, deformations are to the greatest possible extent prevented by the two upper, mutually overlapping corner regions being connected to one another via a rivet 18 on the side opposite the hinge, the rivet 18 being constructed on its side facing the door as a stop piece for the door. <IMAGE>
