The invention has as its object a beater wheel for beater-wheel mills which, while maintaining the main dimensions and the main design data, is exchangeable with beater wheels of existing embodiment and is suitable for higher thermal loading. According to the invention, the web flanges (5) facing the beater-wheel disc (1) are designed as one-sided wedge flanges in such a way that they form an axial gap (17) with the inner surface of the beater-wheel disc (1). The axial gap (17) opens to the outside and its width in the preassembled state essentially corresponds to the extent of the deformation caused by the thermal expansion of the beater-wheel ring (2) and transmitted by the beater-wheel webs (3).
