The pallet container (1) for transporting and storing light bulk material is produced in an element construction. The essential components of the pallet container (1) are a square plastic pallet (2), having dimensions conforming to European standards, which is composed of a bottom shell (3) with wide feet and a top shell (7) with an annular receiving groove (8) for a cylindrical container casing (9) made of plastic material, and a lid (10) which is of the same construction as the top shell (7) and is fitted with the annular receiving groove (8) onto the container casing (9) in an inverted position relative to the top shell (7) of the pallet (2). The cylindrical container casing (9) is composed of two flexible plastic plates which are curved in a semicircle and are connected by two hinges which can be released by pulling out the hinge pins so that the plastic plates can be taken apart and placed flatly one on the other when the pallet container (1) is dismantled for the purposes of empty transport and storage.
