<p>This invention relates to a speed change controller for an automatic transmission for a vehicle, capable of controlling an engine output timing properly at all times irrespective of the variation with the lapse of time of an automatic transmission, and having a means for detecting the timing of termination of disengagement of a frictional engagement unit for high speed gear when high-speed gear is shifted to low-speed gear, a synchronism detecting means for detecting the synchronous condition between the revolutions of an engine and those of a rotary element in an automatic transmission during low-speed gear, and a means for controlling an engine output, the engine output control means starting to increase the engine output when the termination of disengagement of the frictional engagement unit for high-speed gear is detected, and finishing to increase the engine output when the synchronous condition between the revolutions of the engine and those of the rotary element in the automatic transmission during low-speed gear is detected by the synchronism detecting means.</p> |
