The invention relates to a switching cabinet having a base which is composed of four corner pieces, two longitudinal panels and two transverse panels and whose top is connected to the bottom of the switching cabinet, at least the upper edges and lower edges of the transverse panels having mounting flanges which are bent inwards at right angles and are provided with rows of mounting holes. The subsequent installation of a cable restraining rail in the base is simplified in that in each case one mounting bolt is used for mounting the ends of a cable restraining rail on the transverse panels, which mounting bolt is provided with at least one transversely directed threaded receptacle, in that one end, which is provided with a holding attachment, of the mounting bolt is in each case inserted into the mounting hole in one mounting flange, in that in each case one axially displaceable clamping piece is screwed into the other end of the mounting bolt, which clamping piece is inserted by means of a holding attachment into a mounting hole in the opposite, other mounting flange, and in that the mounting bolts are held in a braced manner between the mounting flanges of the transverse panels by means of the clamping pieces.
