<p>The invention relates to a signal transmission system comprising one or more signal transmitting units (3), one or more signal receiving units (6) and a medium (5) adapted for the transmission of selected signals, wherein a transmitted signal carries a number of signal elements which have been allocated the same or different categories, and wherein a number of signal elements that have been allocated the same category can be coordinated in a receiving unit (6) to form predetermined information. The system includes means (38) which functions to increase the number of signal elements that have been allocated one category (CTS) at the cost of the number of signal elements that have been allocated another category (DTS) and/or a third category, and so on, or alternatively to carry out one or more selected functions within equipment (32) connected to the receiving unit (6).</p> |
