The invention relates to a brush assembly which can be driven in rotation and has a brush holder and an annular brush. The brush holder has end discs and a spacer bush which connects the end discs. The end discs have axial webs distributed over the circumference, while the annular brush has brush-free band zones for the axial webs which engage over the brush band. On the underside, the axial webs have carrier receivers, and the brush band has, on the outer side in the region of the bristle-free band zones, carriers which engage in the carrier receivers such that any slip or relative rotary movement between the brush holder and the annular brush is avoided, in particular when the brush assembly is started up. By means of the fastening of the annular brush which is fixed against rotation, an increase in performance during surface treatment and an increased service life are achieved. <IMAGE>
