<p>From titanium-doped sapphire crystals, and other monocrystalline oxides having a Mohs hardness of at least 7 comprising an effective amount of a dopant selected from the elements (22 through 28), devices can be prepared that display unexpectedly good wear resistance when subjected to contact with fluid abrasives. Such devices are, e.g., nozzles for the homogenization of dairy products, or waterjet tools.</p> |
