The device (10) for driving magazineable fastening elements (16) is equipped with a magazine shaft (12) for the fastening elements (16) which is fixed to a place-on part (28) capable of being placed upon the underlying surface (32). A pushing device (52) for ejecting the fastening elements (16) from an injection opening (50) is displaceably guided in the place-on part (28). The magazine shaft (12) is aligned with the ejection opening (50). The pushing device (52) is provided with a passage (72) for the fastening elements (16) which is aligned with the ejection opening (50) and the magazine shaft (12). The pushing device (52) has at least one movable holding/pushing part (64) which is elastically pretensioned into a holding position and upon movement of the pushing device (52) towards the underlying surface (32) is movable into a press-against position. The holding/pushing part (64) is equipped with a holding portion (70) projecting, in the holding position, into the passage (72) and intended for holding the lowermost of the fastening elements (16), located nearest the underlying surface (32), counter to the weight of all superposed fastening elements (16) of the machine shaft (12). Further, the holding/pushing part (64) has a press-against portion (74) for pressing against the lowermost fastening element (16) in the press-against position, where the press-against portion (74) is situated at least partially in the passage (72) and the holding portion (70) is out of engagement with the lowermost fastening element (16). <IMAGE>
