In a method for indicating an operating liquid supply of motor vehicles, in which a level transmitter supplies a raw measured value and a damping device connected downstream supplies therefrom a measured value cleaned of short-term fluctuations, and in which the cleaned measured value is indicated, the last indicated measured value is stored and indicated further in the event of a standstill of the motor vehicle. The raw measured value is stored as reference value, after a quietening time, and subsequent changes of the raw measured value are only taken into account if they exceed a predetermined measure of change. The indicated measured value is then corrected by the difference between the raw measured value and the reference value.
