POLYOL FOR AN ISOCYANATE CASTING RESIN AND COATINGS

The invention concerns a polyol with more than 10 C-atoms and two or more hydroxyl groups and which can be prepared by reacting epoxidized fatty-acid esters of monohydric alcohols with aliphatic alcohols having two to 10 hydroxyl groups and/or with phenols having two or three hydroxyl groups to cause opening of the epoxide rings and optionally to cause ester interchange of the fatty-acid esters and/or subsequent reaction with C2-C4 epoxides. The aim of the invention is the use of the polyol in the production of isocyanate casting resins or coating compounds. The casting resins and coating compounds thus produced are insensitive to solvents, moisture and aggressive media such as strong acids and alkalis. They are also transparent.
