The invention relates to an arrangement for frequency shift control in the transmitter of an FSK (frequency shift keying) system. In this frequency shift control, the level matching is directly influenced by a control parameter and the modulated optical signal is heterodyned with an unmodulated optical signal. This produces a constant frequency shift for information transmission by means of optical frequency shift keying. <IMAGE>
